Cal Crutchlow was the fastest man on the track today at a very windy Thruxton, and running half a second quicker than teammate Leon Haslam on the HM Plant Honda bikes.
After the 22-year-old rider set a time of 1:15.071, he said “I’m happy enough with the time, but now we need to work on the consistency - it is so open here, the gusts of wind were a real problem. I’m hoping to maintain the pace and secure pole start and then have good results in the races.”
The third fastest man was the Rob Mac Yamaha rider, Karl Harris, who was followed by Shane Byrne on the Airwaves Ducati. The Rizla Suzuki rider Tom Sykes took the fifth place slot.
Saturday will have a free practice 3 session, as the qualifying set at the Brands Hatch meeting will stand due to the forced cancellation of the Grand Prix because of adverse weather conditions.
