The HM Plant Honda rider in British Superbikes, Cal Crutchlow, will be competing in the Suzuka eight-hour race in July.
He has been testing in Japan this week with Leon Haslam and Jonathan Rea and will be riding the factory-supported Moriwaki Honda Fireblade during the race.
The eight-hour endurance race is held at the Suzuka circuit in Japan every year where teams have two riders each and one alternate.
The main attraction to the Suzuka eight-hour race is to watch some of the star riders in Moto GP and Superbikes from around the world. It’s not unusual for riders to have the eight-hour race written into their contracts when they get a factory ride with Moto GP or Superbikes. However, once they are successful in their chosen rides they normally opt to have this removed from the contracts as it not only physically draining on the rider but it also breaks-up the mid-season momentum.
Honda had won for the past ten consecutive years until last year when the Suzuki team took the victory with the riders Yukio Kagayama, and Kousuke Akiyoshi.
