British Superbike rider Leon Camier, attended the Manchester Velodrome on the 23rd December where he went head-to-head in a cycling race with Olympic gold winning cyclist Jason Kenny.
As part of the Airwaves Pro opportunity, Camier spent the morning following the training regime of Kenny before the two raced for real.
Camier said,
“It was really good to see the differences in the training we have to do for our sports.
Out on the bikes we did a three lap sprint race. The problem is I didn’t know when he was going to go really go for it.
If I’d known the exact point he was going to go I reckon I could have hung onto him.
I’d like to think I’d shocked him a bit.”
Camier, known as ‘Shafter’ amongst the riders, continues to race with GSE Yamaha team for the 2009 season and will ride alongside James Ellison.
