At his home track, Leon Haslam was the fastest man on the track today with a time of 1:32.152 in the second free practice session.
The red flag was out twice during the session, the first time only fifteen minutes into the practice, when Martin Jessop crashed at Craner Curves after the Co-ordit Racing Yamaha, ridden by Dean Ellison, sprayed oil on the fast left hander going into the old hairpin.
Only seconds before, Shane Byrne had crashed out at Goddards, but he lost no time as the red flags stayed out to clear up the oil on the track.
With only nine minutes remaining of the session, Jessop went down again after tangling with Simon Andrews on the Lloyds British Jentin, as they were entering Redgate corner, bringing the red flags out for the second time.
Good to see Karl Harris back on form and dominating most of the second free practice for the Rob Mac Racing Yamaha team, only being beaten in the last few minutes by the two HM Plant Honda riders, Haslam and Cal Crutchlow.
In fifth place was the Rizla Suzuki rider, Tom Sykes ahead of the two Ducati’s of Michael Rutter and Leon Camier. Sykes team-mate, Atsushi Watanabe was in twelfth place in free practice 1, but in the second session he came off at Coppice corner.
