Michael Rutter and Martin Jessopp, have both signed to ride for Ducati in the 2010 MCE Insurance British Superbike Championship.
The pair will be riding the machine that Rutter tested at the end of the 2009 season, the Ducati 1098R with full backing from Bathams Brewery, Black Horse Finance and Riders, a West Country dealership owned by Phil Jessopp, Martin’s father with both riders expected to take part in the North West 200 and the Isle Of Man TT.
Rutter said;
“Last year we dusted the bikes off and went racing, but it was a last-minute deal and very rushed. I could see there was a lot of potential with the bikes and I think we will be really competitive next season with updated engines. We are already planning to go testing to get the bikes really sorted.”
Jessopp said;
“I had a good season on the 749 in 2007. We shed 10kg off it so it was really lightweight but we also had some reliability issues.
I’ve ridden the Honda for two years now but I’m looking forward to getting back on a Ducati. The vee-twins certainly suit my style – the way I ride with lots of lean angle.
The team have three bikes – two complete machines – and under new BSB rules – a spare bike in component form that will be in the truck if needed.”
