Michael Rutter, the 2008 North West 200 Ducati British Superbike rider, has become stranded in Thailand due to the recent terrorist incident at Bangkok airport.

Rutter had been having an extended holiday in the country after the end of season race at Macau, and was due to fly back to the UK today, but after the terrorists took over the control tower of the main airport, all flights have been cancelled.

Earlier this week it was reported that Rutter had been ousted from the Ducati team for the coming season despite looking to be favourite NW 200 Team, who will be run by Alistair Kennedy next year.

It is believed he has been pushed aside so the team can secure factory backing for the season ahead which is dependant on running an up and coming new rider.

Rutter claimed he has been offered more money to take a management role rather than race, but he says he isn’t ready to quit BSB and instead will concentrate on setting up his own team.

Rutter was hoping to be back in the UK in time for the NEC motorcycle show which opens today, and as he now had no ride for 2009, it could be essential for him to be in attendance.

Avoid the stress of the bustling captial cities of the world by relaxing a cruise ship holiday.
