The British Superbike team, Rizla Suzuki, have completed their three days of testing at Guadix in Spain. Both riders seemed pleased with the set-up of their bikes and both improved their times.
Tom Sykes, managed to complete 92 laps on the final day of testing with his fastest time being 1minute and 13.6 seconds although he was concentrating more on refining his chassis throughout the session which he thinks will pay off once the season starts.
Atsushi Watanabe, Sykes team-mate and two times Japanese Champion, completed a total of 95 laps on the final day and was just a tenth of a second slower than Sykes, impressive as he is still trying to get to grips with the European style circuit.
The overall Team Manager, Jack Valentine seemed pleased with the progress made during the testing and said “Considering we have really been concentrating on setting the bike up and not chasing fast lap times I’m pleased with the progress both riders have made, especially Atsushi. He has worked very hard with his crew chief to achieve the lap time he put in today. Tom feels he still has something in reserve and is a little sore from his high side a couple of days ago. I’m now looking forward to the official British Superbike Test at Snetterton over the Easter Weekend. I feel we have a capable motorcycle that can will races.
Leon Haslam was the fastest man on the track on the Honda with a time of 1:12.8 followed by Cal Crutchlow in second place on the other Honda in 1:12.9. They were followed by the two Rizla Suzuki riders.
The official British Superbike testing at Snetterton takes place on 22nd-24th March.
