Rizla Suzuki Team Deny Protest

Joy Ryder - Wednesday 07.05.08, 13:38pm

rizlaJack Valentine, the Rizla Suzuki Team Manager, has denied suggestions made by the HM Plant Honda Team, that he and his team protested the manoeuvre made by Leon Haslam on Tom Sykes, which ended Sykes race.

Haslam had his fourth position revoked and lost 13 points for ‘careless riding in the course of a meeting’ according to the Judicial Clerk of the Oulton Park circuit.

Haslam tried to take the lead and collided with Sykes in a similar style to the incident that had happened at the Thruxton circuit on the first race of the season.

Although unhappy with the move, Valentine has denied making a complaint to the race organisers about Haslam.  Valentine said “The MCRCB looked closely at the accident and the rule book and made a decision off that”.

“Leon did come into the garage straight after the race and admitted it was one hundred percent his fault and I thanked him for that.  But there was no need to protest an incident like that because it was clear to see.  I’m pleased the MCRCB recognised the crash, but I would never have protested it.”
