In the fifth round of the World Superbike Championship, Shane ‘Shakey’ Byrne has taken the pole position ahead of tomorrows race at Snetterton.
Byrne on the Airwaves Ducati, is leading the Championship but had a fight on his hands today with Cal Crutchlow on the HM Plant Honda right on his tail and running second place on points.
With nearly half-an-hour of the session still to run, the heavens opened and the qualifying was stopped.
Leon Camier took the third position on the second Airwaves Ducati alongside Leon Camier on the second HM Plant Honda followed by Tom Sykes on the Rizla Suzuki.
Many of the riders took the opportunity to test on their wet set-ups in case the same thing happens during the race tomorrow.
