The SMT Honda team have confirmed that they have signed the Australian Supersport Champion Jason O’Halloran to ride in the British Superbike Championship in 2009.

He made his BSB debut this season at Croft and continued to finish in the top ten at the Silverstone round, a first time for the team.

The Australian will be arriving in the UK in February 2009, ready for the pre-season testing on the all new Honda Fireblade.

The team manager Robin Croft said,

“We’ve got a really strong line-up for 2009 and we’re delighted to have Jason and Adam on-board. (Adam Jenkinson will be riding for the team in the National Superstock 1000 Championship).  Jason gelled with the team as soon as he came over to England and his talents were plain to see so we were determined to sign him as soon as we could.  He’s young, he’s fast and he’s also extremely determined so February can’t come soon enough and we’re confident we’ll be challenging right from the very first round.”

Adam Jenkinson was the Superbike teams original rider for 2008 and was proving himself to be one of the top riders at Thruxton’s opening round until he crashed braking both of his arms, forcing him to miss the entire season.

He came ninth in the 2007 Superstock series so is no stranger to the class where he also managed two podium finishes.
