This weekend the British Superbike Championship gets underway in what is now the first race of the 2008 season. The first round should have been at Brands Hatch but was cancelled due to snow.
The Airwaves Ducati team have their riders, Shane Byrne and Leon Camier, who are aiming for a positive outcome at the Hampshire circuit.
Shane is on pole position after being quickest in every session at the Brands Hatch track and he is confident he can continue this impressive form at the Thruxton circuit.
He said ” We had a pretty good outing at Brands Hatch and I am aiming to take that into this weekend at Thruxton. I just hope the weather doesn’t ruin it for us again! Achieving pole position at Brands Hatch has given me even more confidence about the Ducati 1098R and what it is capable of. I like Thruxton and the Ducati’s have done well there in the past few years so I am confident for a good result this weekend.”
Leon Camier, will be in sixth place on the grid at his home circuit and was pleased that he’d had the extra recovery time he needed for his shoulder, which was injured when he crashed during testing.
Leon said “I was a little sore after practice and qualifying at Brands Hatch, but I knew what I could have achieved in the race, so I was gutted when it was cancelled. My shoulder is feeling a lot better now and I hope to be challenging for the top position this weekend.”
